Bloom forecast: Flower festivals set or move their dates by the bloom forecast, so this window can shift by a week or two. Check again a few weeks before you go.
What it is like
Yeouiseo-ro, better known as Yunjung-ro, is the riverside road that curves around the back of the National Assembly at the western end of Yeouido, the island in the Han River that holds Seoul's parliament and financial district. About 1,886 king cherry trees line it, with forsythia, azaleas and other spring flowers (13 species in all) planted around them. Every spring since 2005 Yeongdeungpo-gu has closed about 1.7 km of the road to cars and turned it into a walking festival.
The festival lasts five days, and the road stays car-free for about a week around it. In 2026 it ran 3–7 April, 11:30–21:30, under the theme "Spring Garden, All Together", with four themed gardens (spring flowers, rest, art and food) along the road, the riverside park below it and the National Assembly football field. It opened with a "Flower Road Walk" parade at 17:00 on 3 April, a Black Eagles aerobatic flyover was scheduled for 14:00 on 5 April, and there was street theatre by the Assembly's Gates 5 and 7, a stage of music and DJ sets, Art Cube exhibitions by local artists and a food garden run with The Hyundai department store. After dark the trees are lit, which is when many Seoul residents come.
The dates are a bet on the bloom. The district fixes them in March from the forecast. In 2024 the festival ended on 2 April before the cherries were fully open, so forsythia stole the show and the road stayed closed to cars until 8 April. In 2025 the festival moved from 4–8 April to 8–12 April because of the crowds expected around the National Assembly at the time of the verdict in President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment trial, and the opening show and the Black Eagles flyover were dropped. In 2026 the first flowers opened on 29 March and the peak was expected on 3–4 April, the first days of the festival.
The honest caveats: at peak bloom, above all on weekend afternoons and evenings, the road is packed, and the district puts police, firefighters and volunteers on the cherry road and around Yeouinaru Station. There is no festival parking, bicycles and electric scooters are banned on site, and the festival can miss the bloom by several days. Come on a weekday morning for space, or after sunset for the lights.
Highlights
- About 1.7 km of Yeouiseo-ro (Yunjung-ro) behind the National Assembly closed to cars and turned into a walking road under about 1,886 cherry trees
- Forsythia, azaleas and other spring flowers, 13 species in all, around the cherry road and the riverside park
- Cherry trees lit after dark; in 2026 the stage, food and cultural programmes ran until 21:30
- Opening "Flower Road Walk" parade at 17:00 on the first day (3 April 2026), with a children's ballet company, a traditional chwita band and character mascots
- Black Eagles aerobatic flyover scheduled for 14:00 on Sunday 5 April 2026 (dropped in 2025)
- Four themed gardens: spring-flower photo zones, street arts by National Assembly Gates 5 and 7, Art Cube exhibitions and a food garden run with The Hyundai
- Barrier-free touches in 2026: a touch, sound and taste tour for visually impaired visitors and captioned stage performances
Who it suits. Best for first-time visitors who want Seoul's classic cherry-blossom walk without leaving the city, couples and photographers after the lit trees at night, and families (free stroller loans and a family zone in 2025); less suited to anyone who dislikes dense crowds or must fix travel dates months ahead, because the bloom may not match the festival.
Getting there
From Seoul
Line 9 to National Assembly Station, Exit 1 (or 6), then about 5–10 minutes on foot to the cherry road behind the National Assembly; Seoul's Mediahub puts Exit 1 about 600 m from the road. Or take Line 5 to Yeouinaru Station, Exit 1, and walk about 15 minutes west to the Yeouinaru-side entrance, where the 2026 route map starts (Spring Flower Garden, main stage, Art, Gourmet and Rest gardens in that order). Yeouinaru Exits 2 and 3 open onto Yeouido Hangang Park, so you can also walk in along the river. At peak bloom the district concentrates crowd-control staff around Yeouinaru Station.
From Incheon Airport
AREX to Gimpo Airport Station, then Line 9 to National Assembly Station; or AREX to Gongdeok Station and Line 5 to Yeouinaru Station.
Last leg from National Assembly Station
Seoul Subway Line 9, Exit 1 (also Exit 6). About 5–10 minutes (roughly 600 m) to the cherry road behind the National Assembly
Getting home
The 2026 programme ended at 21:30, well before the last Line 5 and Line 9 trains. No extra or later trains for the festival were reported in the sources found; at peak bloom the stations are crowded after dark, so allow extra time.
Parking
No festival parking. Yeouiseo-ro (1.7 km) and the area from the Seogang Bridge south-end public car park to the Yeouido downstream IC are closed to traffic for about a week around the festival, and the district asks visitors to come by public transport. The 2027 closure has not been announced.
How to switch Naver Map and Kakao Map to English
Google Maps shows train, subway and bus routes in Korea but not walking or driving directions yet, so for the walk from the station Naver Map or Kakao Map is more reliable.
Before you go
1330 · Travel hotline
The Korea Tourism Organization’s helpline answers in English, Japanese and Chinese around the clock, and in several other languages from 08:00 to 19:00. Dial 1330 from a Korean phone, or +82-2-1330 from a phone registered abroad.
112 / 119 · Emergencies
112 for police, 119 for fire and ambulance. Both are free from any phone. Police on 112 can add an English or Chinese interpreter to the call.
T-money card
Buy one at a convenience store such as GS25, CU or 7-Eleven and top it up there with cash. It pays for subways and buses in most cities, and for most taxis.
Maps
Use Naver Map or Kakao Map for walking and bus directions; Google Maps does not yet give walking directions in Korea. Both apps can be switched to English. Naver Map: Menu (≡) → Settings → Language (Japanese and Chinese also available). Kakao Map: Menu (≡) → Settings → App settings → Language. If the option is missing, change your phone’s language and reopen the app. Small shop names and some reviews stay in Korean.
Trains and buses
Book trains on Korail’s English site and express buses on Kobus. Holiday weekends sell out first.

Before or after the festival
Places you can fit in before or after the festival without missing the shuttle or the last train or bus back.
A former water-filtration plant on an island in the Han River, turned into a free ecological park where gardens and water plants grow in the old concrete tanks, with a botanical garden and the Seoul Design Gallery. Spend the afternoon there and come back for the lit cherry trees after sunset: the park is open every day 06:00–24:00 (exhibition hall 09:00–18:00, closed Mondays). Tip: it is only two stops away on Line 9, so it is also a quieter break if the cherry road is packed.
Getting there: Line 9 from National Assembly Station two stops west to Seonyudo Station, Exit 3, then about 800 m on foot (782 m in the official listing)
Seoul's largest department store, which ran the festival's food garden in 2026: Sounds Forest on the 5th floor is a 3,300 m² indoor garden with real grass and about 30 trees, and the basement food hall has about 90 outlets. Go for lunch before the cherry road or dinner after the lights: the store opens 10:30–20:00 Monday–Thursday and to 20:30 Friday–Sunday, the restaurant floor to 22:00. Tip: closing days change every month, so check the store's site.
Getting there: Line 9 from National Assembly Station one stop east to Yeouido Station (also on Line 5), then a short walk
Questions travelers ask
When is the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival 2027?
Not announced yet. Expect five days in late March or the first half of April, timed to the cherry bloom: recent editions were 29 March–2 April 2024, 8–12 April 2025 and 3–7 April 2026. Yeongdeungpo-gu usually announces the dates in March.
Is the Yeouido Spring Flower Festival free?
Yes. Entry and the stage shows are free; you pay only for food, drinks and anything you buy.
Which subway station and exit should I use?
National Assembly Station on Line 9, Exit 1 (or 6), is closest: about 5–10 minutes to the cherry road. Yeouinaru Station on Line 5, Exit 1, is about 15 minutes away and puts you at the start of the festival's route map, but it is the most crowded station at peak bloom.
When is Yeouiseo-ro closed to cars?
For about a week around the festival, starting a day or two before it opens and ending a day or so after it closes: the 1.7 km road behind the National Assembly from 1 to 8 April in 2026 and from 6 to 13 April in 2025. In 2024 the closure was kept until 8 April because the blossoms were late. The 2027 closure has not been announced.
Are the cherry blossoms lit at night?
Yes. The trees are lit after dark, and in 2026 the stage, food and cultural programmes ran until 21:30. A 2026 visitor guide said the lights stay on until 22:00; the official lighting hours were not confirmed.
What if the blossoms come early or late?
The dates are set in March from the bloom forecast and can miss. In 2024 the festival ended before full bloom, with forsythia the main show, and the car-free road was kept until 8 April. In 2025 the dates moved for another reason: crowds expected around the National Assembly at the time of the impeachment verdict.
Can I bring a bicycle or an electric scooter?
No. Bicycles and electric scooters were banned inside the festival area in 2025 and 2026.
What is the weather like during Yeouido Spring Flower Festival?
March in Seoul: average high 11 °C (52 °F), low 2 °C (35 °F), 37 mm of rain (Seoul station, KMA 1991–2020 normals). April in Seoul: average high 18 °C (64 °F), low 8 °C (46 °F), 73 mm of rain (Seoul station, KMA 1991–2020 normals). Near or below freezing after dark: a warm coat and layers.

- Best Yeouinaru exit for the cherry road: a blog gives Exit 1 (about 15 minutes); the district lists Exits 2 and 3 for Yeouido Hangang Park; whether exits or trains are restricted at peak bloom
- KTO's Traditional Chinese listing gives 10:00–20:00 and phone 02-2629-2261, unlike the Korean listing (11:30–21:30, 02-2670-3128); NOL World shows 8–12 April 2026, unlike KTO and news (3–7 April)
- Edition number of the 2026 festival (the district's Japanese page calls an earlier edition the 15th) and what happened in 2020 and 2022
