Korean festivals and events in June

Gangneung Danoje is the festival to plan June around: eight days around Dano, the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, with shamanic rites, mask dramas and a large market on the Namdaecheon riverbank (5–12 June is expected in 2027). From the third Friday of June, the Daegu International Musical Festival stages Korean and overseas musicals in theatres across Daegu into early July. In Busan, the Gwangalli Eobang Festival recreates a Joseon fishing village on Gwangalli Beach on a weekend in May or June, and the sculptures from the Haeundae Sand Festival stay on the beach into June. The rainy season (jangma) usually starts in the last week of June.

Tip. Danoje's dates move with the lunar calendar; the site lists the solar dates for the next edition once they are confirmed.
