Festivals in Daegu

Daegu's festival year starts on Biseulsan in Dalseong County, in the south of the city, where the wild azaleas on the summit plateau bloom for a festival weekend in mid-April. From the third Friday of June into early July, the Daegu International Musical Festival stages Korean and overseas musicals in theatres across the city. In the first week of July the Chimac Festival turns Duryu Park into an open-air chicken-and-beer hall for five days; entry is free and the park is on Metro Line 2. Every two years in autumn the Suseong International Biennale gathers around Suseongmot Lake, and over Christmas and New Year the lake is lit with residents' light art and drone shows for the Suseong Light Art Festival (Metro Line 3).
