Festivals in Chungcheongbuk-do

Korea's only landlocked province has a late-summer pair of festivals: the Jecheon International Music & Film Festival, six days of music films and concerts, and the Yeongdong Grape Festival in the last week of August, in one of Korea's main grape and wine counties. Every two years, in odd-numbered years, the Cheongju Craft Biennale fills the Culture Factory, a converted tobacco plant in Cheongju, from early September. In early November the Goesan Kimjang Festival lets visitors make a season's kimchi from Goesan's salted cabbage; Goesan has no railway, so the trip from Seoul is by bus.
