どんな祭り？
光州では1994年からキムチの祭りが開かれており、韓国観光公社の紹介ではこの街を「キムチのふるさと」としています。南区の光州キムチタウンなどで開かれていた時期を経て、2023年は尚武市民公園で開催され、2024年に西区治平洞にある光州市庁の広場、野外音楽堂、芝生へ会場が移りました。韓国観光公社と文化体育観光部は現在、会場を全南光州統合特別市（전남광주통합특별시）の光州庁舎としており、同市の主催で第33回の祭りが2026年10月23日（金）から25日（日）まで、毎日10:00～20:00に開かれます。
この祭りの柱は、キムチを食べる・買う・漬けるの3つです。「千人の食卓」（천인의 밥상）のフードゾーンでは一日中キムチ料理が味わえ、2025年には50種類以上が並びました。キムチマーケットでは受賞キムチ、認証キムチ、伝統市場のキムチが売られ、2024年と2025年は店頭価格より20～30%安く、2026年は10～30%割引です。最高賞が大統領賞の大韓民国キムチ競演大会（대한민국 김치경연대회）もプログラムの一つです。この賞を受けた名人たちが有料のキムチ体験学校で教え、初心者向けの短いクラスでは約1kgのキムチを漬けて持ち帰れます。子ども向けには塩漬けや味付けをゲームにした「キムジャン・アーケード」があり、外国人旅行者向けにはグローバル・キムチラウンジで試食ができます。
金曜と土曜の夜（2026年10月23日と24日）には、メインステージで18:30から20:00までキムチパーティーが開かれます。公式プログラムをもとにした祭りガイドによると、初日はオペラとカクテルの「RED NIGHT」、2日目は伝統音楽とオーケストラの「K-HEUNG NIGHT」です。
注意点もあります。都心のオフィス街で開かれる祭りなので、白菜畑に囲まれた田舎でのキムジャンとは趣が異なります。有料のクラスは韓国のサービスであるNAVERで予約します。2025年は3日間で約57,000人が訪れました。週末は市庁周辺の駐車が難しく、最寄りの地下鉄駅からは歩いて25～30分かかるため、最後の区間はタクシーか市内バスを使うと時間を節約できます。

ソウルから
龍山駅（または水西駅）からKTXで光州松汀駅まで約2時間です（2026年9月の運賃値下げ後、龍山駅からの一般室は₩42,000）。光州松汀駅で光州都市鉄道1号線の鹿洞方面に乗り換え、尚武駅（4番出口）か雲泉駅（3番出口）で降ります。祭りガイドによると市庁までは歩いて約25～30分かかるので、タクシーか、市内バス（금호46・매월16・운림50・일곡38・지원25・지원45・첨단22）で「市庁」（시청）停留所まで行くほうが早く着きます。ソウル・セントラルシティ（高速バスターミナル）から光州ユースクエア（総合バスターミナル）への高速バスもあり、そこからはタクシーか市内バスを利用します。
釜山から
地下鉄2号線沙上駅の隣にある釜山西部（沙上）市外バスターミナルから光州ユースクエア（総合バスターミナル）まで、市外バスが1日23本、所要2時間57分、優等₩28,300、プレミアム₩36,800です。釜山総合バスターミナル（老圃、地下鉄1号線老圃駅）からも1日16本、所要3時間03分、優等₩31,200で運行しています。ユースクエアからは上記のとおりタクシーか市内バスで市庁へ向かいます。

帰り方
祭りは20:00に終わり、10月23日と24日のキムチパーティーも20:00に終わります。光州松汀駅から龍山駅・水西駅へのKTXも、光州ユースクエアからソウル・セントラルシティへの高速バスも夜遅くまで運行していますが、2026年10月23日～25日の終電・最終便の時刻は、Korailやバス会社の時刻表では確認していません。出発前にKorail+アプリ（코레일+。KTXと旧SRTの列車は現在ここで予約します）か駅で終電を、ターミナルで最終バスを確認してください。光州松汀駅へ戻る1号線やタクシーの時間も見込んでおきましょう。
駐車場
市庁周辺の駐車スペースは限られているため、公共交通機関で行くのがおすすめです。2026年10月21日20:00から25日24:00まで、市庁前交差点から韓国銀行裏門の交差点までの区間は車両通行止めになり、一部の市内バスは迂回運行します。週末は市庁周辺の公共機関の駐車場と、尚武平和公園（상무지구 평화공원）の地下駐車場が無料で開放されます。
Google マップは韓国では電車・地下鉄・バスの経路を表示できますが、徒歩や車のルート案内にはまだ対応していません。駅から会場までの徒歩ルートは、NAVERマップかカカオマップのほうが確実です。

GS25、CU、セブン-イレブンなどのコンビニで購入でき、チャージも同じ店で現金でできます。ほとんどの都市の地下鉄・バスと、ほとんどのタクシーで使えます。
地図アプリ
徒歩やバスのルート検索にはNAVERマップかカカオマップを使いましょう。Google マップは韓国ではまだ徒歩ルートを案内できません。どちらのアプリも英語表示に切り替えられます。NAVERマップはメニュー（≡）→設定→言語で切り替えでき、日本語・中国語も選べます。カカオマップはメニュー（≡）→設定→アプリ設定→言語で切り替えます。項目が見当たらない場合は、スマートフォンの言語設定を変えてからアプリを開き直してください。小さな店の名前や一部の口コミは韓国語のままです。

祭りの前後に寄れる場所
シャトルバスや帰りの終電・最終バスに間に合う範囲で、祭りの前後に立ち寄れる場所です。
1995年から続く韓国で最も歴史ある現代美術ビエンナーレで、当サイトでも紹介しています。第16回「You Must Change Your Life」は2026年11月15日まで北区龍鳳洞のビエンナーレ展示館を中心に開かれ、市内各地にパビリオンもあります。展示館は10:00～18:00で休館は月曜だけなので、祭りの3日間はどの日でも行けます。午前中に見てから市内を横切り、午後の体験クラスと18:30のキムチパーティーへ向かいましょう。当日券は大人₩20,000で、展示館の隣の光州市立美術館は入場無料です。

- 良洞市場 (양동시장)祭りの前に
1910年に始まった光州最大の伝統市場で、2度揚げした鶏を丸ごと出し、半分を甘辛いチリソースとピーナッツで和えた「良洞トンダク」、エイ（ホンオ）、サンチュで包んで食べる天ぷら「サンチュティギム」で知られます。祭りの前の昼食にどうぞ。市場は毎日09:00～20:00（店によって異なります）。地下鉄1号線沿いなので、そのまま西へ戻って雲泉駅か尚武駅から市庁へ向かえます。

- 5·18記念公園 (5·18기념공원)前後どちらでも
1980年5月の光州民主化運動を記念して、旧尚武台（軍の施設）の跡地に1998年に造られた208,000m²の公園で、市民軍の像、追悼空間、5·18記念文化センターがあり、林に覆われた如意山を登ると五月台という東屋に着きます。いつでも入れて無料なので、午後の体験クラスと18:30のキムチパーティーのあいだなど、一日のすき間に立ち寄れます。トイレは記念文化センターにあります。
