Notes on the 2025 edition
27th festival, theme 'We, make hope bloom', billed as a 'festival of light without fire'. Only the first day took place: under a strong-wind advisory, with gusts up to 24.8 m/s (the safety plan's cancellation threshold is 20 m/s), tents were torn and Jeju City cancelled 15–16 March on the morning of the 15th. Budget ₩1.8 billion.
About the festival
The Jeju Fire Festival (제주들불축제) is Jeju City's March festival at Saebyeol Oreum, a 519 m grassy volcanic cone in Aewol-eup, rooted in the island's old custom of burning off dead pasture. The famous burning of the whole hillside was abolished in 2023; in 2026 the slope was lit instead by a laser, fireworks and media-art 'digital fire', alongside torch parades and a bonfire. The 2026 edition ran 9–14 March with free entry; 2027 is expected in March, but no dates had been announced by 18 October 2026.
Transport, booking, crowd and accessibility details are on the main Jeju Fire Festival page, which covers every edition.
