Notes on the 2025 edition

27th Yangyang Song-i Festival, held on its own the day after the Chuseok holidays (end date from a blog). Reports cited budget and the roughly one-month gap between mushroom harvest and salmon run for splitting the two. Top-grade song-i hit a record ₩1,611,200 per kg at auction after heat and drought cut yields. A blog reports about 100,000 visitors over three days; MTN (July 2026) put last year's festival at about 130,000 despite poor weather.

About the festival

The Yangyang Pine Mushroom and Salmon Festival (양양송이연어축제) is an autumn harvest festival on the Namdaecheon riverside in Yangyang, on Gangwon's east coast, where you hunt for pine mushrooms (song-i) in a pine forest and catch returning salmon bare-handed in the river. The 2026 edition ran 16–18 October; 2027 dates are not announced, and mid-October is most likely. Entry is free; the two signature experiences cost ₩30,000 each in 2026, with ₩10,000 returned as local gift certificates. Express buses from Seoul take 2 h 19 m.

Transport, booking, crowd and accessibility details are on the main Yangyang Pine Mushroom and Salmon Festival page, which covers every edition.
