No 2027 dates had been announced as of 19 October 2026; the 2024 dates were set out at a city briefing on 3 July 2024 and the 2025 dates were public by 12 July 2025, so expect an announcement by early July 2027.

Notes on the 2026 edition

Run by the Tongyeong Culture Foundation (통영문화재단). No visitor total or post-festival report was found. A travel guide written just before the festival warned that typhoon No. 13 could bring swells and local downpours to the south coast; whether any sea programme or the fireworks was changed is not known.

About the festival

The Tongyeong Hansan Daecheop Festival (통영한산대첩축제) is a free summer festival around the old harbour of Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do, marking Admiral Yi Sun-sin's 1592 sea victory off Hansan Island with a naval procession, a battle reenactment on the water and fireworks over the sea. First held in 1962, its 65th edition ran 12–16 August 2026; the 66th is expected in early to mid-August 2027, around the 14 August anniversary, with dates not yet announced. Entry is free (a few activities charge), and Tongyeong is about 4 hours from Seoul by express bus (₩42,200).
