Notes on the 2026 edition

15th edition. Announced on 1 September 2026 as a full festival (theme 'Let's go, strong Mungyeong! Let's eat Yakdol Hanu!'), then scaled down to the '2026 Mungyeong Yakdol Hanwoo Cooperative Market' (상생장터, also reported as 생생장터) after foot-and-mouth disease broke out in neighbouring Yecheon. First day: about 2,000 visitors and ₩236.29 million in sales (₩217.69 million at the Saejae grill area, ₩18.6 million at the station sales booth). No three-day total was found.

About the festival

The Mungyeong Yakdol Hanu Festival (문경약돌한우축제) is a free three-day beef festival at Mungyeong Saejae Provincial Park in Mungyeong, Gyeongsangbuk-do: you buy the city's Yakdol Hanu beef at 20–33% below market price (2023–2025) and grill it yourself in a grill area that seated 800 people at once in 2025. The 15th edition, 9–11 October 2026, ran as a scaled-down beef market because of a foot-and-mouth outbreak in neighbouring Yecheon; 2027 dates have not been announced, but recent editions fell on a weekend between early October and early November. From Seoul, buses from Dong Seoul Terminal reach Mungyeong in 1 h 54 m–2 h 20 m (₩14,200–19,800).

Transport, booking, crowd and accessibility details are on the main Mungyeong Yakdol Hanu Festival page, which covers every edition.
