Notes on the 2026 edition
30th edition, theme 'Bandi's light meets the world' (반디의 빛, 세계를 만나다), slogan BANDI GREEN LIGHT. Hosted by Muju County, run by the committee, supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Jeonbuk State. Foreigner-only firefly tour bus, English/Japanese/Vietnamese guidance, global food and taekwondo zones added. Visitor totals were not published in the sources opened.
About the festival
Muju Firefly Festival (무주반딧불축제) is a free nine-day festival in Muju, a mountain county in Jeonbuk with no railway, built around guided night trips to see fireflies in a protected habitat. The 30th edition ran 4–12 September 2026 around Deungnamu Stadium and the Namdaecheon stream; 2027 is expected in early September. The firefly tour costs ₩20,000 and must be booked online. Go for the night tour; it sells out fast.
