Notes on the 2025 edition
About 20,000 visitors over the two days, according to Pohang City. The city also promoted the season's gwamegi at the National Assembly in Seoul on 25 November 2025 as 'tongtong' (plump) gwamegi, after a good catch of larger saury.
About the festival
The Guryongpo Gwamegi Festival (포항 구룡포 과메기 축제) is a free two-day weekend food festival on Ara Plaza, on the Gwamegi Culture Street of Guryongpo in Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do. Guryongpo is Korea's largest producer of gwamegi, saury dried in the winter sea wind. The 26th edition ran 15–16 November 2025. For 2026 the festival's poster, printed in K-Festival magazine's October 2026 issue, gives Saturday–Sunday 14–15 November at Ara Plaza, but Pohang City had not announced the dates as of 21 October 2026. Entry and tastings are usually free, and gwamegi is sold at festival discounts, typically about 20–30% off.
Transport, booking, crowd and accessibility details are on the main Guryongpo Gwamegi Festival page, which covers every edition.
