Notes on the 2025 edition
First four-day edition (previously three days); theme '세상의 모든 김치, 모닥불 Party' ('all the kimchi in the world, bonfire party'). About 123,000 visitors and about ₩1.2 billion in sales (county figures); satisfaction 4.73 out of 5. Reports differ on growth over 2024 (over 20% per Wikitree, double per Seoul Shinmun).
About the festival
The Goesan Kimjang Festival (괴산김장축제) is a four-day kimchi-making festival on the Organic Expo Square in Goesan, Chungcheongbuk-do, the county where Korea's pre-salted cabbage trade began in 1996. The 2026 edition runs 5–8 November, 10:00–20:00. Entry is free; a pre-booked kimjang session with 20 kg of salted Goesan cabbage and 7.5 kg of seasoning costs ₩148,000 (₩76,000 for 10 kg). Goesan is about 2 hours by intercity bus from Dong Seoul Terminal.
